We have the following Camp Directors coming to Auckland to hire kiwis on Sunday January 24th, 2010.
Attendance is by invitation only to avoid disappointment. That means if you don't have the skills the camps are looking for - we won't get you to come in - we will leave you to be placed in a camp that suits your skills. That also means - if you do get an invite - chances are you'll be offered a job if you interview well. (Be confident and enthusiastic).
Going to camp was the most amazing and awesome experience of my life! I still get emails form some of my campers and the people i work with. i've made friends from all over the world as well. i can't wait to go back to camp this year! everyone should try it! its amazing!

Camp NJY - Nah-Jee-Wah - Pennsylvania
They are looking for counsellors to teach the following; Archery, Basketball (Asst coach), Canoe, Ceramics, Computer, Dance/cheerleading, Drama, Gymnastics, Mountain Biking, Nature, Painting/drawing, Photography, Radio, Soccer (asst coach), Swim Specialists, Tennis, Volleyball specialist, Woodshop Asst, Woodshop Head.
NJY - Cedar Lake Camp - Pennsylvania
while Cedar Lake is a Jewish Camp they like to hire non-jewish staff as well so that the campers have lots of different experiences. It is not an Orthodox Jewish Camp so you would still be teaching a sport or skill to a camper, it's just the children are jewish and jewish traditions are adhered to (full training is provided and it's not hard). You will find it very interesting if you know nothing about the Jewish religion. You will teach 6 periods of your activity per day, and sleep in cabins with a group of campers each night.

NJY Teen Age Camp - Pennsylvania
This camp requires older counsellors for obvious reasons - the campers are all teens! You should be a good role model to young adults. They are looking to hire the following;

Camp Mountain Top - Pennsylvania
With 1250 acres and three lakes! This camp needs counsellors 21+ with very strong leadership skills, FLEXIBLE, able to lift, must be able to train in waterfront and adventure training, OUTGOING all around staff member - drivers license.
NJY - Round Lake - Pennsylvania
A great camp for children with ADD/ADHD and mild social skill disorders. At Round Lake Camp we believe that every camper deserves friends, fun, and laughter in an accepting environment. Our Camp family recognizes our campers for their strengths and not their challenges. This encouraging environment is role modeled by our staff and happily accepted by our children. For the first time in their lives, our campers belong and can make lasting friendships. Our program of therapeutic recreation is designed so that every activity, recreational, social and educational is planned to meet the capabilities of each child. Through easy to measure goals our campers can evaluate their progress. This works with a camper's self-esteem and allows our children to feel as though they soar among the stars, while gaining skills in recreational activities. Our camp is structured so that each camper receives guidance in the widest possible variety of recreational skills, and social opportunities. Our program is also flexible enough to allow for individual interests and needs, supportive services and social skills training. At Round Lake Camp having a successful summer and being able to carry that into the school year is our main goal. They need; Science, drama, music, rockband, nature, woodshop, Arts and Crafts, teachers, sports and lifeguards.
Camp Nesher - Lake Como Pennsylvania
is a modern orthodox Jewish camp but they hire specialist instructors to teach the following (who do not need to be Jewish). Lifeguard/swim instructor, Sailing/lifeguard, Jet Ski, canoe specialist/lifeguard.
Camp Stewart - Texas
One of America's Top 10 camps! Looking for horseback riders and general sports instructors including ropes and swimming. Brother camp to Heart O Hills. Riders must be very strong riders and polo cross experience a bonus. Riders here are female and instruct the boys - but sleep in cabins (not at the boys camp). We also hire less experienced riding instructors for Heart (see below). Also looking for male instructors for; tennis, archery, arts and crafts, climbing wall, canoeing, swimming, and rifle instructor, and fencer too. Must have teaching experience in the area above.
Camp Heart O Hills - Texas
One of America's Top 10 camps! - looking for horseback riders and general sports instructors including ropes. Swim techers. This is a girls only camp so female staff only required. Sister camp to Camp Stewart. Also need a Fencer!
I have visited this camp - it's in an area where there are so many other camps you get to meet so many people just at Walmart who are doing the same summer camp thing! They are looking for counsellors experienced with ADD and ADHD. Summit Camp is a summer sleepaway camp for boys and girls, ages 8-17, with issues of attention. These may include Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD and/or ADHD), Aspergers syndrome, awkward social skills, verbal or non-verbal learning disabilities (NVLD), and/or mild social or emotional concerns. Some of our campers may also have Tourrete's syndrome, O.C.D., and /or mild mood issues. Summit Travel works with teens, ages 15-19, who have similar issues. Looking for Woodwork teacher, waterfront staff, sailing, go-carts (program and mechanical), music and high/low ropes. All specialists must have teaching experience in their skill - not just a hobby (male or female). General Male counsellors with ADD and ADHD experience also sought.
Located on a private lake (very flash) Camp Modin is the oldest Jewish Camp in New England. Shaun - one of our Auckland interviewers attended this camp (and no - he's not Jewish). Modin will be interviewing early as they are here now (Thursday 21 night and Friday 22 morning) - Applicants should be really qualified and experienced in teaching their skill; they need; swimming instructors who are also lifeguards, waterskiing, Hiking, Arts and Crafts teacher, Lots of sailors, a Nature Teacher, Tennis, Gymnastics (must have experience on bars, beam and floor and coaching exp too), Riflery, Yoga Teacher, Basketball instructor, a REALLY good soccer instructor, a Theatre Director who has led Musicals, and 12 Pioneering counsellors who have a drivers licence, have experience in high ropes, leading trips and climbing and who are over 21 (for insurance).
The name says it all really doesn't it. Set in the Pocono Mountains where there are literally hundreds of camps based around many many lakes in the region, on 400 acres! They usually always need strong all round sports people. While they will always hire Americans for the basketball and UK people for the soccer - they also teach cricket and rugby! Other sports include gymnastics, air trapeze, banana boating, jetski and climbing tower. They are looking for Soccer; 2 male; 2 female, Lifeguards; 7 male; 5 female, Mountain Biking; 1 male and 1 female, General Counsellors and a Trapeze Counsellor.
At this summer camp 1st – 12th grader kids can enjoy the thrill of a high adventure summer camp for boys under the guidance and care of our dedicated staff from all over the world. Mountain boarding, horseback riding, mountain biking, skateboarding, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, rock-climbing, caving, wakeboarding,team sports, tennis , golf, arts & crafts, yoga, fencing are some of the activities we offer. We are located in Brevard, NC, the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This camp want major outdoorsy males (only) pref 21+ and those who can multi-skill. They are looking for Riflery, Archery, Golf (single figure handicap), Tennis teacher, Kitchen (Work Adventures programe), Paintball, Swim Teachers, Wakeboarding, Lifeguards, Kayak/Canoe tripping instructors, Horseriding instructors, and Touch Rugby - you should be good at more than one of these skills and have teaching experience.

Looking formotorboat drivers and waterski instructors as well as ropes and flying trapeze. Also looking for Extreme Sports - BMX, a male art teacher,Rock Music, Computer (strong), Go-Carts and Go Cart Mechanics, Sailing, Skateboarding, Mountain Bike, Horse riding.
Wow, i'm amazed how i went from feeling unsure about my camp and hopeful that i had made the right decision to knowing i was meant to be in THIS camp looking after MY girls. They made it all the more unforgettable! Pennsylvania is so beautiful and yes i saw a bear!
