So you have just signed up for the best summer of your life with Camp America and you are wondering just what exactly you just signed up for...

You have arrived at camp. You have been through a long few weeks of staff training. You are ready to meet your first ever group of campers. They are just minutes away from arriving. You are nervous and excited at the same time.

Campers usually arrive at camp between a 3 hour time period on Sunday afternoons. You can be trying to entertain one or two campers while you wait for the rest to arrive. Once all your campers arrive you then get to show them where they are staying for their time at camp. You will then help them unpack and get settled in. You then have your first meal in the dining hall with all the other campers which is loud and crazy. After dinner you will show them around camp if you haven’t done so already. Then everyone does group games to get to know the campers and counselors.

First thing in the morning you need to get your campers out of bed, dressed, and ready for breakfast. Then you walk them to the dining hall for breakfast. After breakfast you and your campers head off to your first block of activities. They could be archery, swimming, canoeing, high ropes, art and crafts, or horse riding. After your first block you will most likely have another two activity blocks before lunch. Then back to the dining hall for another chaotic meal. After lunch its rest time which will be your favourite part of the day

(honest). Rest time is a hour of quiet time where you and your campers can sleep or do quiet activities in your cabin.

After rest time you will have some more activity blocks and will most likely go swimming. Then back to the dining hall again for dinner. After dinner the campers have free time while some of the counselors have a staff meeting to plan the next day. Then its time for an evening activity that the whole camp joins in. Such as counselor hunt, capture the flag, night swim or camp fire. After the evening activity its late snack time then its time to go back to your cabin to get ready for bed. 1030 lights out. If you have home sick campers then you need to stay up with them until they go to sleep. You are responsible for the campers all night.

This routine is the same every day each week with some activities that might change like one day a week you might have an all camp colour war where your colour team does challenges around camp against the other teams or the camp might bring visitors to camp like the police or fire department. Some weeks could be around a theme like Harry Potter or Superheros.

If you are lucky at the end of the week your campers will go home. Then you get a day off to sleep and go to Walmart before the next campers arrive!
