Just like eating an elephant - bite size chunks at a time - the Camp America Application Process

Camp America Application process

Many of you ask us about the application process for Camp America.

It may seem scary to start with but once you get started and break it down into small chunks it can be really fun!

I mean after all you are getting an open forum to talk about yourself and who doesn't enjoy that...

????

Firstly you start with filling in our pre-application online at -

  • Then you'll be guided to Step 2 (if you've gotten through Step One).... this 2nd stage is getting your application "online and live" so we can see it and your interviewer can too.
  • Start by having a look through all of the sections and working out a bit of a plan.
  • If you haven't already asked arranged references then I would get this part started first.
  • Have a good read of the criteria then ask two people if they will be your referee.
  • Either way get the references ordered ASAP as they can take the longest to complete (online by the referees).
  • Once your references are underway you can start formulating a plan for the written part of your application.

You can fill in the easy bits about your personal details, photos and background information quickly, and then when it comes to the harder bits, like skill descriptions, why you want to go, and your personal essay.

Think carefully about your answers.

You only have limited space to write the information so get to the point quickly and tell us how great you are!!

Some tips that are worth their weight in gold:

  • Be positive
  • Be consise
  • Be detailed
  • Give examples
  • Use correct spelling and grammar

Interview time

Once you have the application pretty much nailed you can get in touch with an interviewer (if you haven't already..) and look at booking an interview, exciting!

I will go in to the interview in more detail in another blog but for now it is a job interview so treat it as such.

Now that your interview is complete (phew!) you are almost there... but not quite... so keep up the energy.

  • You will notice there are a few new post-interview questions to complete, your video to upload (if you have not done so already) plus your interviewer may have recommended some changes to your application.
  • Go ahead and complete these tasks ASAP and keep in touch with your interviewer.
  • Let them know when you have completed your application, your interviewer is working hard at the same time finishing their side of your application and will need to submit your application for final review.
  • Your application is not complete and will NOT be available to camps until your front page says Ready to Place (RTP).
  • So do not rest until you have reached this stage.
  • From now on all you will need to do is keep logging into your application everyday to check for messages, updates, tasks or PLACEMENT!!

And come talk to us on Facebook yeah?

Until Next Time....
