Camp Becket for boys founded in 1903 offers boys a traditional, resident camp experience with a wide variety of activity choices on 1400 acres in the beautiful Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts. Located about 2.5 hours from Boston and 3 hours to New York City.

Staff Qualities

Camp Becket hires about 150 seasonal staff for a period of 10-11 weeks during the months of June, July, and August. Open positions will have a link to the application below.

All first time staff will need to need to supply three references if you did not work in 2019 with BCCYMCA. 

2020 Staff Dates:
Waterfront Staff (lifeguards/boating) and Trip Guides June 7 - August 23

All other Program and Office Staff June 14 - August 23

Here's a list of all the Counsellor Roles this camp is specifically looking to hire at the fair!
  • Boating Staff (2), male, 18+, sailing experience (non-motors), with certificate ideal.
  • Canoe/kayak skills and/or sailing and windsurfing.
  • Lifeguard/Swim Instructor (5), male and female, 18+, prior experience teaching swimming lessons, with certificate ideal
  • Wood Shop Director/Construction Counselor (2), male, 21+, skills with power and hand tools, able to build and supervise campers building projects.
  • Trip Guides (4), male, 21+ with drivers license, hiking, camping, likes the outdoors, has an outgoing personality.
  • Land Sports Staff (3), male 18+, tennis, soccer, rugby, volleyball
  • Ropes Course Staff (2), 18+, rock climbing, ropes course work, indoor climbing
  • Target Sports Director (1), male, 21+ preference, riffle and shooting experience.
  • Creative Arts (2), 21+ (willing to look at 18+), general crafts (tie dye, drawing, painting, clay, ceramics).
  • Photography Director (1), 21+ (willing to look at 18+), traditional 35mm black and white photography, manual camera skills, film and photo developing in a darkroom, enlarger and chemical knowledge.
  • Music Director (1), male, 21+ preference, needs to know how to play piano, read music, or be a wizard and play by ear.
  • Performing Arts Director (1), male, 21+ preference, teach drama and performing arts classes, write and or adapt a script and direct the camp play.
  • Culinary Arts (1), 21+ preference, experience cooking, making recipes, baking, working with kids.
