Camp Kostopulos is a co-ed special needs camp located in Salt Lake City Utah. Camp K’s mission is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people of all abilities through recreation, education, and growth experiences.

About the Camp

  • Our services are available to people of all abilities, levels of income, and place of residence. 
  • Our programs are evidence-based, and designed by recreational therapists to foster independence by increasing self-esteem, confidence, physical fitness, communication skills, relationships, and other life and social skills. 
  • During the week at camp, campers will enjoy activities that include riding horses, swimming in a heated pool, canoeing, fishing in a trout pond, low/high ropes course, climbing wall, arts and crafts, nature, sports, games, and much more. 
  • The camp is located just outside of Salt Lake City, in the beautiful Emigration Canyon, on 25 acres of property. 
  • Friendships are made and rekindled, and new experiences and adventures happen each week. 
  • Travel Trip Camp provides travel and adventure opportunities at locations across Utah.

Staff Time Off

  • Our camp sessions are Monday 8AM - Friday 4PM
  • Weekends are off - staff must report back to camp Sunday night for staff meeting
  • One hour rest time provided during the day
  • Staff work schedule is 7:30AM-9PM Monday-Thursday and 7:30AM-4PM Friday (one overnight duty per week, the rest of the evenings are off after 9PM)

Staff Qualities

The Summer Camp Counselor is responsible for assisting and participating in the following tasks: 

  • Supervision of participants, administering behaviour protocol as directed, administering all medical protocol as directed, verbal & physical assistance, & completes all other tasks as directed. 
  • A primary function of this & every other job at the Kostopulos Dream Foundation is to ensure that each member, guest & visitor receives the highest caliber of service. 
  • Knowledgeable of Cognitive & Physical Disabilities. Previous experience working with individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities preferred. 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated history of responsibility, dependability, and maturity. 
  • Ability to be flexible, creative and adaptable to situations. 
  • Ability to consistently lift, carry and load adaptive and other sports equipment that may weigh 50 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes. 
  • Commitment to a positive, fun and team-oriented working environment.

Looking for 

While they prefer 21-25, but will take 18 year olds. All campers are special needs, mix of adults and kids depending on the weeks. Great location. Experience not required but definitely a big learning experience.
