How to get back to Camp with Camp America

So you are returning to camp for another season? Exciting!

Here's what you need to do....

  1. Go to mycampamerica.com and do your returners application.
  2. Do all of the tasks as required until the orange banner appears at the top and there is a link to submit your application.
  3. Submit your application.
  4. Your camp can't see or hire you until this is done and the UK office check and approve your application.
  5. Then send us a police check application form (please complete and post in to us at the Auckland office) - this takes a few weeks to come back from the police so don't procrastinate on this one.
  6. And a new medical form (please email a copy to us and keep the original to take to camp). If your camp is happy with last seasons medical please have them email you saying they are ok and you can use last years one once we get the email and last years medical copy.
  7. Once all of this is done and you have paid your fees (or your camp has depending on your arrangement) your visa papers will be sponsored, printed and then sent to NZ.
  8. We will send them to the NZ address on your application, so make sure the address is one that they will hold the papers for you in a safe place.

The visa papers come will full instructions for returners. From 2016 returners will need to attend a face to face interview at the Consulate in Auckland again.

Notes

  • The earlier you do this the better so you can make the most of the Returner Discount. To qualify for the early bird Returner discount your application must be completed, submitted and first payment paid no later than January 30th. From February 1st, fees will go up.
  • When the above steps are taken we can proceed with sending your online application to your camp. When your camp confirms your placement on our database, you will receive an email from Camp America asking you to confirm your placement online. You will also be instructed to pay your second payment/assessment fee at this time. Your action is required before we can dispatch your DS-2019 visa pack. Sometimes Returners say, “but I already have a placement”. This may be true and agreed between yourselves and your camp, however as your J-1 visa sponsor, it is vital Camp America adheres to US State Department regulation and business policy before we can issue your visa forms. So avoid delays and disappointment with your visa application process and complete the steps above as early as possible!
  • If you want to return but to a different camp - select that option when you log back in to myCampAmerica.com and keep in mind you will need a another interview and full application.

Get in touch if you need help at any stage along the way.
